With out a 5th point, when you tighten down your shoulder belts, it pulls the lap belts up too high on your waist (where its uncomfortable, and unsafe). The 5th point belt needs to be properly adjusted to prevent this, and re-adjusted for each size rider or when your seating position changes (which is rarely done).
